January 1, 2004 - Revelstoke - 5695 kms - Happy New Year's from Lori and Chris! Lori says, "The mountains are truly inspiring. They also command a great respect, as the Park Rangers have asked I check in with them every day because of their concern for avalanches along my route through the Rogers Pass. It's still very cold, but my latest challenge is staying dry as I walk. The high humidity combined with my exertion makes it tough, and being wet is not good when it is -15C!"
January 7 - Salmon Arm - 5750 kms
Comments from Lori: "I now know what a popsicle feels like after a few hours in the freezer! Monday was so cold that the inside of my jacket was frozen like a sheet of ice from just my perspiration! I had to stop as I just couldn't get warm enough. Only 12km that day. By the time you read this I will probably be dealing with the snow storm you just had. Wish me luck! My big news is that I have set a firm date for finishing the Trans Canada Trek for MS! I will be finishing at English Bay Beach in Vancouver on Sunday, February 8th. I will be walking through Mission a couple of days prior to this. I can hardly wait! See you soon!"
January 13 - West of Kamloops - 5900 kms
"I get more excited every day about finishing! It's hard for me to believe that I only have 500km to go. It may seem like a lot, but considering I've walked 6,000km so far, it is just around the corner for me. My senses are alive! Everything is so familiar and I find myself getting emotional thinking about it. I can see, smell and generally feel that I am coming home. I can't stop smiling. It doesn't seem to matter how I'm feeling, once I start walking all I can think about is seeing my family. I am also very proud of what has been accomplished. It will always be difficult to explain what it's like to walk across such a vast distance, but it has changed me in ways that I will never be able to fully explain." - Lori
